Pastor Jeff Nyberg, Ph.D.
We strongly believe God intends for us to worship together each and every Sunday. So we immediately started our Drive-In Worship services when COVID 19 began to threaten our community. Doing so allowed us to keep our church family safe and at the same time honor our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Starting Sunday, May 24th you have three options:
# 1 Remain in Your Car Our Drive-In services will run at the same time as a service indoors and will continue to be broadcast on FM 93.1.
#2 Sit in family groups inside with appropriate social distancing. Hand sanitizing station to used by all before entering. No handshaking and maintain 6 foot social distancing at all times.
#3 Sit in family groups outside the church building with appropriate social distancing under the porta cache or in shade under the trees.
If you are unable to attend, we will also live-stream on Facebook: Facebook Live-stream.
Audio of the sermons are on the on the sermon page.
Sermons are also uploaded to our YouTube Page.
Sermon Notes for 5.24.20 below:
Today we take a first step toward safely returning to the pre-coronavirus normalcy. Some are social distancing in the sanctuary and foyer. Others are safely gathering under the porta cache or trees and still others are in their cars joining in the worship service via FM radio transmitted from the sound booth. I must not forget those joining by Facebook Live, YouTube or our church website. Welcome to all in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In today’s message, we will explore the absolute importance of having a heart for God.
IS WILLING TO REMOVE ANYTHING THAT STANDS BETWEEN YOU AND GOD
2 Kings 18:4
He removed the high places and broke down the sacred pillars and cut down the Asherah. He also broke in pieces the bronze serpent that Moses had made, for until those days the sons of Israel burned incense to it; and it was called Nehushtan.
“You shall have no other gods before Me.”
HAS COMPLETE TRUST IN GOD
2 Kings 18:5
He trusted in the LORD, the God of Israel; so that after him there was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor among those who were before him.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.
RECOGNIZES UTTER DEPENDENCE ON GOD
2 Kings 18:6a
For he clung to the LORD
2 Kings 19:19
“Now, O LORD our God, I pray, deliver us from his hand that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You alone, O LORD, are God.”
2 Chronicles 16:7
At that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah and said to him, “Because you have relied on the king of Aram and have not relied on the LORD your God, therefore the army of the king of Aram has escaped out of your hand.
2 Chronicles 20:12
“O our God, will You not judge them? For we are powerless before this great multitude who are coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are on You.”
IS OBEDIENT TO ALL OF GOD’S COMMANDS
2 Kings 18:6
For he clung to the LORD; he did not depart from following Him, but kept His commandments, which the LORD had commanded Moses.
“This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success.”
But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.
THE BENEFITS OF HAVING A HEART FOR GOD…
God hears our prayers
2 Chronicles 7:14
And My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
God delivers us from our enemies
2 Kings 17:39
“But the LORD your God you shall fear; and He will deliver you from the hand of all your enemies.”
God’s presence is manifest in our lives
2 Kings 18:7a
And the LORD was with him
God prospers us
2 Kings 18:7
And the LORD was with him; wherever he went he prospered. And he rebelled against the king of Assyria and did not serve him.
2 Chronicles 16:9a
“For the eyes of the LORD move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His.”
